Maulana Sheikh Nazim Be Content with a Humble Lifestyle

(Mawlana Shaykh speaks with a mureed.)

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: When are you going, today?

Mureed: Tomorrow morning

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: To Spain?

Mureed: To Spain and then to Argentina

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: Argentina? You are our friend, (smiles and pats him on the head). Argentina. How are our brothers and sisters over there?

Mureed: Very good, very good; we miss you a lot. The country is in the economical crisis and we ask one advice from you.

(Mawlana Shaykh Nazim speaks.) The Seal of Prophet’s (s) holy Companions (r) ate two, three or five dates daily and did not complain. Now people they are wasting their money, musrif, spending without a good purpose. That is the cause and main reason of the economical crisis: people they are musrif, wasting their money, not keeping their money for what is obligatory for them to eat and dress. We were dressing in the time of the British Colony (in Cyprus) and Mummy patching the pants in the knees and in the back. I wore my shoes, for two years and a cobbler patched them with leather so I used them two more years. And for my socks, Mummy was darning them. My weekly pocket money every Jumu`ah was a half a piaster, a half Penny (and I was happy)! Now people must keep themselves (in a humble lifestyle).

There is a hadith from the Prophet (s):

ما عال من اقتصد
maa `al man iqtasaad. Who keeps what Allah (swt) granted him, not wasting, will never fall into economical crisis.

All nations are wasting. Do they think the Lord of Heavens is not looking? (Speaks in Turkish.) People now, particularly Muslims, follow Western customs in everything and, therefore, they become poorer and poorer until nothing is left with them. A loaf of bread used to feed ten people! Now they are not eating bread or eating a little bit and throwing it away. The Lord of Heavens is not happy with such servants. I am asking forgiveness from the Lord of Heavens, that we are not good servants, not following heavenly ways, Tariqat al-Jannah. They are not following Prophet’s (s) way but following Shaytan’s way!

Therefore, they must be patient and they must (be satisfied with what) Allah Almighty’s grants, otherwise, if they knock on (Allah’s Door) no one will open!

Thank you.
